These sermons were done by Reverend August Hauptman during his
preaching career as a Missouri Synod Lutheran Minister. The sermons were
converted to pdf files (873 total) after his passing in 2020. Approximately
two-thirds of the sermons were hand written. I used a Canon, CanoScan,
LIDE 210 to manually scan all sermons. Most of the sermons
also had the original church bulletins.
I decided for web presentation that the sermons would benefit most by being
converted to html files. Unfortunately it takes considerable time to convert
them to html. As of October 18, 2024 I've converted 631 sermons to html files.
The information from the church bulletins and sermons was input into a
MariaDB database a open source database. Queries were then written to provide the data in a more
structured way such as by sermon title, sermon bible text, and month and day.
These queries were then exported out of the database and converted to html also.
I used DBeaver, a universal open source database manager to add records to the database as
well as write sql queries.
I used two additional programs Geany, a open source ide editor and Bluefish also
a open source ide. I found both of these programs great to work with in developing
this web site.
The website was created by Marty Hauptman. I can be reached at
tianhaupt@yahoo.com for questions regarding this website. Family members
and friends you have my personal email. I hope you enjoy the sermons.
