Church Period: Epiphany 2nd Sunday After
Sermon Title: Jesus Is A Wonderful God
Sermon Date: January 16, 1972
Rev. August Hauptman
Sermon Text: John 2:1-11

Dear Christian friends:

I think that often we do not realize how wonderful our God is. We often act as if our God is small and weak and without love for us. But our God is not small or weak or full of hate like men. He is a very great and wonderful God. Our text shows that:

Jesus Is A Wonderful God

He worries about us. One motel chain has an advertising motto, "We care!" Jesus worries about the small things in our life including our wedding celebrations. He even worries about our supply of wine.

If He worries about these small things in our life, He surely worries about the larger more important things, our health, our job, our friends, our family, our state, nation and world and our salvation and our church.

Sometimes we think He doesn't care about us because He doesn't help us as fast as we think He should. We are like His mother Mary. (verses 3&4) Jesus let her know that He cared. (verse 4)

He is able to take care of us. Often we worry about our troubles and problems, but we are afraid and helpless to do anything about them. We worry and worry until we get sick with worry. Some of our problems today are like that. Nobody seems to know what to do. Population explosion, pollution, urban blight, racial conflict, and others.

Our Savior is not like that. He worries about us, yes, but He is not afraid or helpless. He knows how to help us and He has the wisdom and power to help us. No problem is too hard for Him, and none is too small. He even changes water into wine.

(Johnny Cash - No Need To Worry Lyrics)
No need to worry, no need to cry
God's gonna bless you by and by
You'll be blessed when the Lord gets through
I've found that if you'll take one step He'll take two

No need to worry, no need to cry
God's gonna bless you by and by

In helping us, He uses us if He can. He used the servant and the water. He could have made wine without water, if necessary.

He's always changing our water to wine. He blesses our work and provides for all our needs, large and small. He even wants us to have happy celebrations and wine to drink. He is a very kind God. He understands us and worries about us and helps us. Like His disciples here in the text, let us believe in Him.

Amen.
